Nick Kim

Senior Pastor

Pastor Nick's first baptism at UBC was his daughter Rachel.

Pastor Nick grew up in Rogers Park with his parents and three older sisters.  In his college years at the University of Illinois-Chicago, he made a deep commitment to follow Jesus and accepted Him in his heart as his Lord and Savior.  Soon after, God gave him a burning passion for saving the lost, and It was at this moment that his ministry journey begun.  He started a college ministry called "Forever Together in Christ (FTC)"  to reach students for Christ.  The Lord called Pastor Nick amd he gave up his dream of becoming a dentist for ministry.  He enrolled at Trinity Seminary in Deerfield, Illinois.  At Trinity, he earned his Master of Divinity and was ordained at Schaumburg Baptist Church on November 15, 1998.

During his seminary years, he served as a youth pastor in different churches.  He also served as Director of One Voice where he planned and organized youth revivals, evangelism conferences, and youth retreats.  After graduating from seminary, he worked as a consultant for LifeWay Christian Resources.  He also worked as a Lead Church Development Associate and a New Work Specialist at the Chicago Metro Baptist Association (CMBA).  He was blessed and forever grateful to have worked under and been mentored by great men of God like Robert Goette, Lindsay Cobb, and Pastor Dale Davenport.

Pastor Nick would go on to plant Living Grace Baptist Church in Schaumburg and New Life Community Church in Chicago.  He then became Co-Pastor of Evergreen Community Church where he was instrumental in starting a prison ministry at Stateville Correctional Center.  He was also involved in a ministry called Xoten where he mentored and discipled ex-convicts.  These ministries were fruitful but he couldn't shake his first love of reaching the lost in the city.

The Lord gave Pastor Nick a vision for reaching a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and socially and economically diverse community.  The Lord fulfilled this vision by Leading him and his wife Ji to UBC.  Pastor Nick is leading UBC to have vibrant ministries focused on reaching lost and hurting people.  In his spare time he loves working out and hitting the golf course.  Pastor Nick and Ji have one daughter Rachel.
